Manuscripts
The Manuscripts series, which contains roughly 700 items, chiefly contain the works of George Dock, some of which relate to his autobiography, but chiefly to his medical work. These include articles, speeches, essays, book reviews, translations, notes, as well as copies of his autobiographies "Apologia Pro Vita Mea" and "My Medical Education." There are also several items written by other medical professionals. There are also a large amount of material related to Dock's work with several hospitals and their administration. This material includes reports, salary information, and other documents related to Barnes Hospital, University of Michigan Medical School and St. Mary's Hospital in Philadelphia. There is also a good amount of material related to medical students including student schedules, grades and evaluations, guidelines for students, lectures and George Dock's ideas regarding teaching medicine. Also included are several records belonging to patients of Dock's.

William Henry Pratt papers

Collection consists of material relating to William Henry Pratt's activities in California. Items include a certificate for Pratt's appointment as Surveyor General of California signed by Benjamin Harrison, 1890 March 4 (HM 73028); a certificate for his appointment as Collector of Customs for Humboldt County signed by Chester A. Arthur, 1883 December 26 (HM 73026); a typescript letter signed congratulating Pratt from then-Governor of Ohio William McKinley, 1893 November 13 (HM 73029); a letter addressed to "Lyman" in which Pratt writes of the ships Corona and Pomona, and a postcard of a ship at Fort Ross sent to Pratt by "Walter." Also included is a certificate appointing Jared Turner Deputy Postmaster of Georgetown, California, signed by President James Buchanan, dated 1857 August 14 (HM 73027).

Two introductory lectures: handwritten bound draft

This is a bound handwritten draft of Dr. Hunter's "Two introductory lectures, delivered by Dr. William Hunter, to his last course of anatomical lectures..." which was published in 1784. With the lectures are three other items all related to Dr. Hunter's desire to build a museum and school of anatomy in London; these include: a handwritten copy of Hunter's request for land in London, 1764 (this is separate from the volume); a letter by Hunter to Prime Minister George Grenville; and a handwritten manuscript that was given to the "King by Mr. Hawkins" (the last two items are at the end of the volume).

George Mifflin Dallas papers, (bulk 1856-1859)

Letters, (mostly marked "Private" and "Confidential"), received by Dallas during his term as the American minister to Great Britain from the Secretaries of State William Learned Marcy and Lewis Cass as well as George Villers, 4th Earl of Clarendon, British Secretary for Foreign Affairs and his office. The correspondence deals primarily with the Dallas-Clarendon Convention. There are also drafts of the treaty and other preparatory materials, including a printed text with revisions made in the Senate (Mar. 1857) and Dallas's notes on Jay's Treaty.
